Learning objectives: Imaging of the tropical and infectious diseases of the head, neck and spine
- To learn about the common and uncommon manifestations of tropical diseases in the central nervous system.
- To become familiar with the imaging findings of common tropical diseases of the brain.
- To understand the risk factors, prevalence and incidence of the most common tropical infectious diseases.
- To review through cases common imaging findings in bacterial, fungal and viral infections of the brain, spine and head.
- To address in a systematic and location based fashion the most prevalent tropical infectious diseases of the CNS.
Imaging Overview of Chagas Disease.
- To review the epidemiology and clinical course of Chagas disease.
- To become familiar with the cardiovascular complications of Chagas disease.
- To discuss the role of different imaging modalities in the evaluation of patients with Chagas disease.
Imaging manifestations of tropical and infectious diseases of the abdomen
- To become familiar with most common tropical infectious processes involving the abdomen and pelvis and their imaging manifestations.
- To learn about imaging presentation of amebic infections of the abdomen, their complications and image guided management.
- To understand most common parasitic infections of the hepatobiliary, gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems and their related complications.
- To illustrate most common abdominal manifestations of systemic tropical diseases and their imaging manifestations.
- To become familiar with common tropical infectious processes in immunocompromised patients, and their imaging manifestations.
